Tasting Notes
하이랜드 인버네스 인근 글렌 알빈 부지의 짭조름한 만 공기가 1969년 빈티지의 골격이다. 1983년에 가동을 멈춘 폐쇄 증류소답게 진한 호박빛이 잔에 잠겨 있다. 향에서는 마른 살구와 가죽, 약한 훈향, 흑설탕의 노트가 두드러진다. 입에서는 캐러멜과 호두, 옅은 피트, 시나몬이 두꺼운 질감으로 흐른다. 54.4도의 도수에도 알코올이 거슬리지 않고 구조감이 단단하다. 여운에는 가죽과 잔잔한 훈향이 길게 발전한다.

amazing, this is XIXth century Cognac. Really. Old prune liqueurs, sloe, damsons, sultanas, then marrow bouillon, very old Sauternes, old books, light soy sauce, balm, cigars, sandalwood, incense, fir honey… That’s what’s missing from many contemporary whiskies, it’s called complexity

bwah bwah bwah, this is incredibly resinous, sappy, and indeed pine-y. You’re almost drinking turpentine, actually. Too much for me, let’s try to add a wee drop of water… With water: that works, albeit partially. Black tea, walnut stain (not that I’ve ever sipped any), coffee…
