Tasting Notes
잔을 코 아래로 가져가면 석탄 연기와 재, 해초의 향이 카올 일라의 바다를 곧바로 떠올리게 한다. 잔을 흔들어 다시 맡으면 사과 껍질과 옅은 버터, 유칼립투스를 닮은 시원한 향이 그 사이를 파고든다. 60.5도의 높은 도수를 한 모금 머금으면 훈연과 소독약을 닮은 향이 혀를 감싼다. 뒤이어 아몬드와 레몬의 산미가 살아나며 균형을 잡는다. 입안에서 천천히 굴리면 훈연과 레몬의 대비가 선명해진다. 삼키면 스모크와 아몬드 뒤로 옅은 커리의 향신료가 목 안쪽에서 길게 따라온다.

it seems that the amount of moscatel is now much lower than in earlier batches, and that’s very good news if you ask me. We’re rather close to the clean ‘naked’ OBs, maybe somewhere between the 12 and the 18. Some coal smoke, ashes, seaweed, apple peeling and a little fresh butter just like in the 12. Also whiffs of eucalyptus (or cough syrup)
restaurant Palate
indeed, the wine’s influence is rather discreet and this dram is very ‘Caol Ila’. Once again, it’s a tad medicinal, smoky, almondy and lemony. Very good
timer Finish
medium long, smoky and almondy. A little curry in the aftertaste
