북부 하이랜드 에더턴의 비옥한 평원에 자리한 발블레어는 깨끗하고 과실 가득한 위스키로 알려진 오래된 증류소로, 26년을 보낸 이 1979 빈티지가 그 원숙함을 전한다. 잔에는 짙은 황금빛이 감돌고, 코에는 잘 익은 사과와 꿀, 옅은 향신료의 향이 부드럽게 오른다. 46도의 둥근 질감이 입안에서 꿀과 시트러스, 묵은 오크를 매끄럽게 풀어놓는다. 오랜 숙성이 만든 깊이가 중심을 잡으며, 여운은 잘 익은 과일과 캐러멜, 참나무가 부드럽고 길게 이어진다.

this one is very expressive at first nosing, all on flowers, fruits and slightly yeasty/mashy notes. Wild flowers, dandelions, butter pears, apple juice, gooseberries, vanilla-flavoured yoghurt, hints of tangerines and just touches of oak... Very ‘natural’ in these days when many whiskies get sort of flavoured (let’s not start...) Fresh and eminently ‘likable’
restaurant Palate
light but not weak, fresh but maybe a little less clean than on the nose... Comes back into the line a little more as far as the palate is concerned but it’s still excellent malt whisky. Faint kirschy notes but good body, with a pleasant spiciness arising after a moment (white pepper and cinnamon)
timer Finish
rather long, all on pears and soft spices. Again, very good ‘natural’ whisky, with a true taste of the Highlands (if that makes any sense). 85 points (more for the nose). Balblair 1979 (46%, OB, 15 casks, 2006) We’ve heard that this one is now almost sold out. Yes we’re late
