Tasting Notes
오크 캐스크에서 18년을 보낸 뒤 소테른 바리크에서 다시 10년을 거친 시간이 한 잔 안에 두 겹으로 흐른다. 글렌모렌지의 1981 빈티지 프라이드답게 늦수확 와인 캐스크의 짙은 꿀 단맛이 캐스크의 깊은 영향과 단단히 맞물려 있다. 노즈에는 잘 익은 살구, 꿀에 절인 시트러스, 옅은 향신료가 또렷이 드러난다. 입에 머금으면 살구 콩포트와 향나무가 묵직하게 입을 채우고 56.7도의 도수가 단맛 위로 향신료를 끌어올린다. 짙은 호박빛 잔에서 와인 향신료가 길게 이어진다.

air Nose
powerful and youthful, starting on caramel, cooked butter and vanilla. It’s soon to get very grassy, vase water, hay. Whiffs of peat and rubber – the latter growing stronger and stronger. It gets very farmy at the same time, and then develops on lavender perfume, before it goes back to cooked butter and stays there. Nice, and much more complex than expected!
restaurant Palate
a very sweet, yet powerful attack, but it’s soon to get spirity, malty and grassy again, with lots of liquorice and cold infused tealeaves. Violet sweets, toffee, liquorice stick, cold strong coffee. Perhaps it lacks some complexity now, but I guess that isn’t the main purpose of a 10 yo malt bottled at 100 (UK) proof. The finish is long and bold, getting a little too bitter. I still like this now discontinued malt, hence my very good rating: 85 points . Glenmorangie ‘Traditional’ (57.2%, OB, circa 2004)
