잔을 가만히 흔들면 글렌고인의 16년산이 잔 벽에 짙은 마호가니 띠를 그리며 흐른다. 코끝에 가져가면 유러피언 오크 셰리 호그스헤드가 길어 올린 말린 자두, 무화과 잼, 흑설탕 케이크 향이 함께 솟아오른다. 한 모금을 머금으면 59.9도의 강한 알코올이 다크초콜릿과 가죽을 입천장에 두껍게 펼친다. 삼키면 옅은 정향과 호두 껍질이 길게 따라오며 윈터 솔스티스 보틀링 특유의 거장적 셰리 결이 또렷이 깃든다.

July 23, 2004 MALTS – FOUR CASK SAMPLES FROM GLENGOYNE'S After having been overshadowed by both Macallan and Highland Park for years, Glengoyne changed proprietors since a few months, and Ian McLeod, the new owners, put all their PR skills at promoting their new flagship brand. Glengoyne’s high quality never was a secret amongst the Maniacs, and for instance Craig, our Master from Oz, has always been a standing groupie. I just got four cask samples from Glengoyne’s, and called fellow Maniac Olivier and friend Christophe for some help.
