벤 리네스 기슭 스페이사이드의 애버라워는 예로부터 셰리 숙성으로 잘 익은 과실미를 뽑아내는 증류소다. 올로로소 셰리 캐스크에서 12년을 보낸 이 위스키는 짙은 황금빛을 띠고, 향은 체리와 핵과일, 마지팬과 아마레티의 달큰한 아몬드 향이 어우러진다. 40도의 입안은 부드러우면서도 다소 건조하게 흘러 담뱃잎과 다크 초콜릿, 씁쓸한 오렌지가 겹친다. 여운은 오크와 담뱃잎, 옅은 가죽과 호두를 남기며 잔잔히 마무리된다.

classic Aberlour fruitiness, with cherries and other stone fruits, touches of varnish and kirsch, along with marzipan (the kirsch-laced kind!) and a few amaretti. Some panettone shows up too – you know how much we love panettone, don’t you? And there’s even a hint of mirabelle eau-de-vie, that typical one from France’s Eastern Marches
restaurant Palate
drier and more on the woody side now, with notes of tobacco, dark chocolate and bitter orange. A handful of raisins pop up as well, but it’s noticeably drier this time, though still very pleasant. It feels less of an ‘allrounder’ compared to the last batch
timer Finish
not that short, fairly oaky, still carrying tobacco and chocolate, plus a faint leathery touch. Some walnuts in the aftertaste
