Tasting Notes
잔을 가볍게 흔들면 59.3도의 힘이 실린 밝은 황금빛이 잔 벽을 타고 또렷하게 돈다. 코끝으로 가져가면 글렌피딕다운 잘 익은 배와 풋사과, 갓 빻은 보리의 향이 산뜻하게 피어오른다. 한 모금을 머금어 혀 위에서 굴리면 높은 도수의 기운 위로 꿀과 바닐라, 가벼운 오크 스파이스가 입안을 채운다. 두 번째 모금을 삼키면 글렌피딕다운 잘 익은 배와 가벼운 오크 향이 한층 산뜻하게 번진다. 디스틸러리 몰트로 병입된 이 위스키는 삼킨 뒤 과일과 맥아의 단맛이 깔끔하게 이어진다.

air Nose
not very Glenfiddich, rather bigger in fact, reminding me of the old 15 CS. There are whiffs of pencil shavings and new plank from the virgin oak but nothing too big, while it remains unusually mineral for a while, before some classic notes of stewed apples and Belgian beer start to rise after a few minutes. Hard to say if I like it or not thus far. With water: more corn syrup, more vanilla. As modern as Kraftwerk ;-)
restaurant Palate
the new oak speaks out even more. Heavy vanilla and maple syrup, you almost need as spoon to get it out of your glass. So ultra-modern, I’d say, hugely extractive and hyper-sweet, it’s almost liqueur. My palate sort of likes this but my brain doesn’t. Politics! With water: vanilla liqueur with touches of ginger and honey. Atholl Brose
